On June 28th, the FIFA World Cup group stage matches concluded. Squawka compiled a ranking of the top 10 players with the most ball recoveries during the group stage.

According to Squawka, Uruguay's Bentancur led all players with 29 ball recoveries in the group stage. Swiss midfielder Xhaka ranked second with 24 recoveries, followed by Ecuador's Enner Valencia with 23. Jordan's Abu Taha and Germany's Florian Wirtz ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
