On August 4, Ajax officially announced the loan of Ter Stegen from Barcelona for one season. Subsequently, Ajax released a video of De Jong's blessing for Ter Stegen.

After officially joining Ajax on loan, Ter Stegen was interviewed by the club's official media. During the interview, Ajax released a video in which De Jong appeared to send his blessings to Ter Stegen.

De Jong said: "Ajax will have an excellent player and a very good person. The people of Amsterdam will take very good care of you, just as they did for me. I am very much looking forward to seeing you play for Ajax."

Ter Stegen responded with a smile: "He's almost like my agent. He knows Amsterdam very well, and he's always been honest. His words made me feel much more at ease. I feel very reassured to be able to come to a reliable team."
