Former Manchester United and England goalkeeper Foster spoke to talkSPORT about his best Premier League summer signing.

Foster said: "I still think Tielemans is the best signing by far. It was a beautiful deal.

"I've seen a lot of transfers, Tottenham spent a lot of money, Arsenal has also spent a lot of money recently, but I still think, so far, Tielemans is the best signing this summer. Whether it's £30 million or £35 million, whatever the exact amount, he is a mature, ready-to-play starter. If you can sign a player who can immediately go into the starting lineup for that price, then every penny is well spent.

"I still think they need a real target man, a strong center forward. The problem is, where can you find such a player? And it will cost you £100 million. That's just how it is these days."

Foster was encouraged by Sesko's performance last season and believes the 23-year-old forward has the basic qualities to be the core of Carrick's attacking system in the future.

Speaking about the Slovenian international, Foster said: "Sesko seems to have the basic qualities to be that kind of player. The question is whether he can further refine those raw abilities."

Foster added: "If they can add another strong center forward to their attack, then they absolutely have a chance (to challenge for the Premier League title).

"Mainoo has something to prove this season, their defense is basically stable, and their offense is very strong. The only thing missing is that main target player. In addition, they also brought in Tielemans and Andrey Santos.

"If they can continue their form from last season, that will be very important. You always want to end the season in good form because it can carry that momentum forward. The standards Carrick set last season are already there. I hope they can carry that form into the new season."

In addition to signing an experienced striker, Foster believes that if Manchester United wants to close the gap with Arsenal and Manchester City, Carrick may also need a high-quality center-back and a "powerful" midfielder who can replace Casemiro.

He continued: "They need a center forward, and maybe a powerful center-back. De Ligt is obviously unavailable, and his situation is still a bit uncertain... They could also add another powerful center-back, and a powerful midfielder, someone who can push forward and score goals, like Casemiro used to do with headers, and then they need a powerful center forward."
