Recently, Brazilian giants Palmeiras and Puma officially unveiled the club’s third kit for the 2026-27 season. The kit is predominantly “Mediterranean blue,” a classic color of the Italian national team. Its overall design pays homage to the 20th anniversary of Italy’s 2006 World Cup victory while also commemorating Palmeiras’ history of Italian immigration.

Palmeiras, formerly known as “Palestra Italia,” was founded by Italian immigrants in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1914. Italian culture has always been a fundamental part of the club’s history. This third kit combines that heritage with the glorious memory of Italy’s 2006 triumph.

The new kit features classic Italian blue, with a clear connection to the kit template Puma designed for the Italian national team during the 2006 World Cup. The historic Savoy Cross emblem from Palestra Italia's 1916 kit is displayed on the chest, topped by a red star and accompanied by the golden Puma logo.

Beyond the main color scheme, gold elements are incorporated throughout the kit. The chest sponsor’s logo, player numbers, and names are all rendered in gold, creating a striking contrast with the blue jersey while enhancing its retro aesthetic and commemorative significance.
A specially designed Italian map badge is placed on the jersey hem to highlight the club’s historical ties with Italy. The historical phrase “Scoppia che la vittoria è nostra” is embroidered on the collar, further emphasizing the kit’s cultural significance.
Overall, Palmeiras is not simply replicating Italy’s 2006 World Cup kit; rather, it is incorporating numerous elements from the club’s own history into a classic template, allowing “memories of the Italian national team” and “Palmeiras’ Italian heritage” to resonate together.
At the 2006 World Cup, Italy reached the final and defeated France on penalties to lift the trophy for the fourth time. This remains the Italian national team’s most recent World Cup triumph. Now, as the 20th anniversary of that historic victory approaches, Palmeiras’ decision to draw inspiration from the moment for their third-kit design carries special commemorative value.
The Palmeiras 2026-27 third kit is set to make its official debut in the team’s match against Vasco da Gama. The kit is currently available in both player and fan versions.
