Beyond Scotland and Turkey, transfers can still be completed in the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, and the Saudi Pro League.

If Pope ultimately stays, he is likely to become Newcastle's third-choice goalkeeper for the first half of the season. Currently, Lukas Hradecky is considered the number-one choice, and Evan Javon is the primary backup, meaning Pope will struggle to get playing time under Matthias Jaissle.

Jaissle previously spoke publicly about Pope: "I've spoken with Nick. I have great respect for what he has achieved in his career so far. He is fully aware of the current situation, and we need to handle it in the best way possible. I always respect the player and the person behind the player."

Pope has had a rather disappointing transfer window this summer.
