Ruben Amorim's perfect start to life in the AC Milan dugout came to an end as Federico Gatti's stoppage-time header earned Juventus a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium.

Match Report

Alphadjo Cisse had come off the bench himself to give Milan the lead against the run of play, but Juventus got the equaliser their performance merited in the closing stages. 

Juventus started on the front foot as Nico Gonzalez's drive stung the palms of Mike Maignan before Adrien Rabiot got his shot at the other end moments later all wrong. 

Francisco Conceicao then cut inside from the right and forced Maignan into making another save, with the rebound just evading the outstretched boot of Manuel Locatelli.

The hosts came close again just before the break, but after he was played in by Douglas Luiz's exquisite ball over the top, Conceicao was denied again by the Milan goalkeeper.

Luciano Spalletti's side continued where they left off at the beginning of the second half, with Conceicao at the heart of another attack. After collecting possession in his own half, the Portugal international struck the left post with an effort from just outside the box.

But Juventus' inability to make their dominance count was punished. Just seven minutes after coming on in place of Diego Moreira, Cisse curled into the bottom-right corner after combining with fellow substitute Samuel Chukwueze.

Nick Woltemade was brought on for his Juventus debut and almost marked it with a goal, but his attempt on the swivel sailed over, though there was to be a late twist in Turin. 

Just four minutes after replacing Zeki Celik, Gatti rose highest to thump Teun Koopmeiners' teasing cross beyond Maignan with a fine header to ensure a share of the spoils.

Substitutes prove their worth in another Serie A stalemate

Ahead of kick-off, Amorim said that both Juventus and Milan were capable of handling the pressure of one of Serie A's headline fixtures, though it was his team that buckled in the closing stages and brought their winning start to an end. 

The result saw Amorim fail to become the fourth manager to win all of his first three top-flight games in charge of Milan, though he will be pleased with the impact of his substitutes, most notably Cisse, who impressed off the bench. 

At 19 years and 319 days, Cisse became the youngest player to score in his first two away games for Milan in Serie A during the three-points-for-a-win era (from 1994-95), while he also had more touches in the opposition box (two) and attempted more dribbles (three) than any other player for the Rossoneri.

Milan remain unbeaten in six of their last seven away games against Juventus (W2 D4), though this is a result that has been a common occurrence of late. The two teams have now drawn three consecutive Serie A matches for the first time since November 1973 (four on that occasion).

Gatti proved to be the man of the hour for Spalletti, coming off the bench to link up with fellow replacement Koopmeiners, though Juventus may feel that this is two points dropped, rather than one point gained. 

They finished with an expected goals (xG) total of 1.57 from their 14 attempts, five of which were on target, while also restricting Milan to three shots, which accumulated an xG value of just 0.09, with Amorim now knowing there is work to do in the final third.
