Fenerbahçe drew 1-1 with Roma in their first Champions League group stage match, and head coach Kartal announced his resignation at the post-match press conference.

Kartal stated: "The first match ended in a draw. I am proud of my players and congratulate them.

From the beginning of the season until today, I have trained with the players and participated in training camps with them. Our president and management have always done their best to support us in every way, and it has been a wonderful time.
