Luis Enrique has urged Paris Saint-Germain to use their early-season criticism as fuel to improve as they seek their first Ligue 1 win of the season at Brest.

The reigning champions have struggled to make their mark in the top flight so far this season, and followed up back-to-back draws with Rennes and Lille with a 2-1 loss to Monaco last time out.

It means they have just two points after three games so far, with this being the first time since 2012-13 (D3) that they have not registered a win across their first three games.

While PSG bounced back with a thumping 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League in midweek, Luis Enrique knows his team need to get that kind of result in Ligue 1.

"This is normal," he said. "If you are at a club like Paris Saint-Germain, there is always criticism.

"Even if you win six games, it might be the goalkeepers, the left-back, the centre-backs, the forwards who don't score – this is normal.

"It is positive to have noise around us because it means this is a big club. If you look at what happened last year, there was criticism of Ousmane Dembele, of me, of Desire Doue, who wasn't up to standard.

"This is all normal. I think this is fair enough. You have to know you are at one of the biggest clubs in the world, so it is normal there are demands of the players individually, and you have to know you can improve every day.

"I wouldn't say it is unfair. I think it is fair. It has to make you get better."

Brest, meanwhile, have made an unbeaten start to their Ligue 1 campaign.

Like PSG, they started the 2026-27 season with two stalemates – against Le Mans and Toulouse, respectively – but they won their third match against Le Havre.

Kamory Doumbia is the joint-top scorer in Ligue 1 2026-27 (four goals, level with Lassine Sinayoko and Amine Gouiri).

He has also accumulated the most expected goals in the top-flight this season (3.2 xG), and no player has had more big chances than him (five).

Paris Saint-Germain – Ousmane Dembele

Brest are the side against whom Ousmane Dembele has scored the most goals in all competitions with PSG (seven, all coming since 2024-25).

Among players in Europe's big-five leagues, only Harry Kane against Stuttgart (11) and Esteban Lepaul against Strasbourg (eight) have scored more goals in all competitions against a single club in that period.

PSG are unbeaten in their last 34 matches in all competitions against Brest (W26 D8), which is the longest historical unbeaten run in all competitions for a current Ligue 1 club against another.

Indeed, since their promotion to Ligue 1 in the summer of 2019, Brest have lost 12 of their 13 Ligue 1 encounters against PSG (D1).

Brest could record the highest number of defeats for a single team against the same opponent in the competition over this period.

Including their final match of last season, PSG are winless in their last four Ligue 1 games (D2 L2) and have not had a longer run without a win in the top-flight since May-August 2011 (seven).

Brest have not won any of their last five home Ligue 1 matches (D3 L2) after winning six of their previous seven (L1), but they are aiming to start a top-flight season with four games unbeaten (W1 D2 so far in 2026-27) for the third time.
