Ahead of Manchester City's pre-season friendly against the K-League All-Stars in South Korea, Manchester City midfielder Foden attended a press conference to answer media questions.

Please start by sharing your current feelings and expectations for tomorrow's match.
We are very much looking forward to this match. As soon as we got off the plane, we saw many enthusiastic Korean fans. This made us realize that South Korea is a country that loves football very much. We are looking forward to tomorrow's match. However, due to the hot weather, I think the speed of the ball and the movement of the players will be a bit slower, so we will be prepared and try to play a wonderful match.
Although you won't reveal too many tactical details, what changes have there been under the new coach's system?
Of course, I won't reveal too much. However, we do have some different arrangements in defense. There are also some new ideas and different changes in how we build up play from the back. Although there are some new elements, everyone is adapting well because we have always liked to build up play from the back and gradually push forward, so overall it is still relatively familiar and comfortable.
Although you haven't worked with Maresca for long, what are the differences compared to the previous head coach?
Overall, it's still somewhat similar to Guardiola. Of course, there are also some differences. For example, defensive positioning and some different ideas when playing out from the back. The team has always built up from the back, so these things are not unfamiliar to us and are relatively easy to adapt to.
This is the first time in your professional club career that you have experienced a new head coach other than Guardiola. How do you feel?
I think it's pretty good. After all, I've only played under Guardiola. Now with a new coach, it's like a new beginning. I really like the new coaching staff and their methods and ideas in training. I am looking forward to the new season and hope the team can have a very successful season.
What has Maresca asked of you? Has he discussed your position with you?
We haven't specifically discussed positions yet. However, he wants me to be a role model for the younger players. During this pre-season tour, he hopes I train seriously, work hard, and lead by example to motivate the younger players. So, this is what I have been striving to do.
Bernardo Silva has left the team, and there will be new captain candidates. Do you hope to join the captaincy group? Do you feel you are already a leader?
I think I have to take on this responsibility. I have been at the club for many years, and I am now one of the few longest-serving players in the team. So, I think this season I should become one of the leaders of the team and a member of the captaincy group. I am looking forward to taking on this new responsibility and playing a leadership role.
You previously recorded a video welcoming Elliott Anderson. What do you think of this signing? Can he replace Rodri in the future?
I am very happy that he can join. Whether watching him play or playing against him in the past, I have always felt that he is a player who likes to look for a number 10 position and is good at delivering penetrating passes. I think this suits me very well, so I am very much looking forward to playing with him.
You also came to South Korea three years ago and performed very well, and that season went well too. Coming back to South Korea this time, do you expect to replicate that success?
If what you say is true, then of course I hope so. I hope this will be another good season for me. These warm-up matches are very important for me because I haven't played an official match for a long time and have had a relatively long vacation. So, the most important thing now is to regain my match rhythm, accumulate playing time, and show my best form as much as possible. I am very much looking forward to it.
You had a relatively complete vacation this summer. Did you do anything special to prepare? What are your goals for the new season?
Actually, nothing special. Just take a break from football, spend time with my family, and get some good rest. As for the new season, I hope to have an excellent season and do my best to help the team. As I just said, I also hope to be one of the leaders of the team. Of course, my biggest goal is to help the team win trophies.
Korean fans are very much looking forward to Sunday's match between Manchester City and Atletico Madrid. Lee Kang-in has just joined Atletico Madrid, and he is similar to you in age and position. Many fans are looking forward to seeing the showdown between you two. Have you watched Lee Kang-in play for Paris Saint-Germain? What do you think of his performance? Is Sunday's match more important than tomorrow's?
To be honest, I haven't watched too much of his games. However, I wish him all the best in his future career. When we play against each other, we'll see who performs better. As for the match itself, as I said before, I am really looking forward to it. I am very excited to be able to play on the pitch in front of the fans. I can't wait.
