According to L'Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain is managing the future of Mbaye while advancing negotiations with Liverpool for Barcola, with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund currently leading the race for the 18-year-old Senegalese international.

Mbaye has not yet decided which club he wants to join, but Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund have taken the lead in pursuit of the talented youngster.

After recouping a total of 156 million euros through transfers of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan, Lee Kang-in to Atlético Madrid, Kolo Muani to Juventus, and Noah Ham Kamara to Lyon, Paris Saint-Germain is experiencing an unprecedented summer. The club's transfer dealings remain ongoing, with both new arrivals and departures still in the works. The two most pressing matters for Paris's management are Barcola and Mbaye. Barcola is eager to join Liverpool, while Mbaye, whose contract expires in 2028, is open to leaving after making 42 professional appearances. Mbaye had hoped for greater opportunities under Luis Enrique this season but now seeks a team where he can play regularly, believing he cannot secure such minutes at Paris Saint-Germain.

Initially inclined to remain in France, Mbaye was informed by Luis Campos and Luis Enrique that his playing time would not significantly improve and that the decision rested with him and his representatives. The club even suggested a loan option. With Paris planning to recruit new attacking reinforcements, Mbaye came to realize that departing could offer better prospects. Germany and England are currently his preferred destinations. Multiple top European clubs have long been preparing approaches for Mbaye, and in recent weeks, several have made concrete moves. In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Bayer Leverkusen have advanced their interest, while Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Chelsea have made contact in the Premier League.

RB Leipzig was recently the most aggressive suitor, previously attempting to negotiate Mbaye's transfer alongside Jan Diomande. However, when those negotiations collapsed, RB Leipzig's pursuit stalled. According to German media, Bayer Leverkusen also submitted an offer to Paris, but it was rejected; the bid amount was not disclosed.

European club executives and Mbaye's representatives, particularly Jorge Mendes, are awaiting Paris to clarify its position and establish a asking price. Both sides understand that Paris will not block his departure should the offer prove acceptable, though some clubs may withdraw if the valuation is too high.

Mbaye himself remains undecided about his next destination and is waiting for the situation to crystallize before selecting from the available options. Should Paris's asking fee prove reasonable, he may choose a mid-tier club to secure regular playing time before eventually returning to an elite side. Currently, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund stand as the most prominent suitors, with both clubs having already presented their proposals in hopes of convincing Mbaye to join.
