According to L'Équipe, Barthez made his public debut in the role on Saturday in Toulouse, just days after officially becoming the French national team's goalkeeping coach.

The former France international and 1998 World Cup winner, who lives locally, attended the Ligue 1 match between Toulouse and Olympique Lyonnais.

Notably, the match featured a direct confrontation between two French goalkeepers: Toulouse’s U21 international Restes and Olympique Lyonnais’s substitute goalkeeper Desplanches (Grégoire was rested for this match).

As a product of the Toulouse academy, Barthez is a familiar figure at the stadium and remains a frequent visitor. During the 2020-2021 season, he also served as an adviser to Toulouse's coaching staff.
