According to Mediaset, after signing Østvold, Roma has refocused its transfer efforts on attacking wingers, with Rafael Leao still a potential target.

What seemed impossible for months suddenly became feasible in the final days of the transfer window. Roma have not given up hope of bringing Rafael Leao to the capital. The deal could solve problems for both sides: Milan could offload the Portuguese winger, who is increasingly marginalised in Ruben Amorim's plans, while the Giallorossi would acquire the dynamic, pacey attacker they have been seeking for more than a year.

However, this deal is far from certain, as several conditions must be met simultaneously for Leao to don the Roma jersey. First, Milan must not receive any other offers for the number 10. Although teams from Saudi Arabia and Turkey have offered huge contracts, they have not swayed Leao, who initially hoped his next career move would be to the Premier League. So far, no English team has made an offer, meaning Roma is quietly waiting for developments during the final 24 to 48 hours of the transfer window.

If Leao remains at Milan when the transfer window closes, the Rossoneri's asking price could soften. So far, Cardinale's stance on Leao has been clear: only a permanent transfer will be allowed, with a fee of no less than 50 million euros. Roma hopes to negotiate more favorable terms at the last minute, with an initial proposal consisting of a 4 million Euro loan with a conditional compulsory purchase option worth 41 million euros, bringing the total package to 45 million euros. Roma would cover 80% of Leao's salary, utilizing the growth decree benefits still available to him, to comply with the 8 million Euro salary cap.
