According to South Korean media outlet SPOTV, South Korean international Song Min-kyu has joined Marítimo Madeira as a free agent, accepting a 75% pay cut.

According to reports, FC Seoul agreed to the transfer because of a prior agreement with Song Min-kyu. When Song Min-kyu joined Seoul, he clearly stated that moving to Europe was a firm goal, and the club agreed to support his ambition if a suitable offer was received. It is understood that both parties specifically agreed that if an offer from a European club was received, he would be released without an additional transfer fee. Therefore, FC Seoul did not receive a transfer fee for this deal.
Song Min-kyu's determination is also very firm. It is understood that to make the move to Europe, he even accepted a salary package worth only a quarter of what he would have earned had he stayed at FC Seoul. He had previously pursued European transfers multiple times, but they fell through due to transfer fee disputes between clubs, so he was determined not to miss this opportunity.
