According to reports, journalist and commentator Borghi has called Mario Gila the best defensive reinforcement Milan could make.

In the match against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, Milan once again felt the positive impact Mario Gila brought to the defense. The Spanish newcomer demonstrated personality and defensive ability. However, Gila left the field early for the third time in as many matches due to physical issues; as with the matches against Torino and Venezia, these do not appear to be serious. Borghi praised Gila's arrival highly in his latest video review.
