According to FCInterNews, Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini stated that Romano is expected to become an important member of the Italy squad soon.

During a Serie A assembly, Giulini discussed not only Daniel Maldini's situation but also mentioned another player. He said, "We are very happy that Alessandro Romano chose the Italian national team, and I am sure he will soon become an important figure for the team."

When discussing Italy coach Roberto Mancini's trust in young players, Giulini said, "He has always trusted young players, and we are well aware of that. Nicolò Barella began his Italy national team career under Mancini when he was at Cagliari. I am really happy that Romano will also get the same opportunity."
