According to Algerian media outlet "El Khabar", Olympique Lyonnais striker Boutaïch stated that he would choose the Algerian national team regardless of whether Zidane called him up.

The 20-year-old Boutaïch said in an interview that his biggest dream is to wear the Algerian national team jersey, participate in the World Cup with the team, and represent his club in top European competitions such as the Champions League.
Boutaïch has committed to playing for the Algerian national team and has been called up to the Algerian U23 national team for the first time by Olympic team coach Rafik Saifi.
When asked what he would do if France coach Zidane called to persuade him to play for the French national team, Boutaïch stated clearly: "I will choose Algeria no matter what—that is my homeland."
Boutaïch also said that he visits the Kabylie region with his family every summer, as his family is from there. He played for Nice last season, making 19 appearances and scoring 3 goals, before joining Olympique Lyonnais in the summer transfer window.
