Mahmoud Trezeguet has been linked with a host of European clubs this summer, but Aston Villa appear to have won the race for the talented Egypt international winger after a deal was reportedly agreed with Kasımpaşa.

Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trezeguet’ has caught the attention of scouts across Europe following his consistent performances with the Turkish club over the last two seasons, and shined at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations despite Egypt’s shock exit against South Africa in the round of 16.

Trezeguet has been linked with Everton, Watford, Sampdoria and even most recently French reports were tipping Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Étienne to enter the race for the 24-year-old winger, who has 25 goals and 17 assists during his two seasons in Turkey, as per transfermarkt.

As the amount of clubs interested in Trezeguet grew, so did the frustration of Egyptian fans who desperately wanted to see the transfer saga of the former Al Ahly youth product resolved in order for him to be tested at a higher level than Turkey. As reported on KingFut.com on Friday, Aston Villa’s interest was the most concrete and they even had already submitted an official bid.

Kasımpaşa vice president Hasan Hilmi Öksüz has recently stated that the club is not willing to accept offers lower than €15 million for Trezeguet, but John Percy of the Telegraph has reported that Aston Villa have agreed an £8.75m (9.76m Euros) deal, with ‘significant add-ons’.

Trezeguet would be joining his Egypt teammate Ahmed Elmohamady in claret and blue at his new club, who are currently owned by the NSWE group, a company owned by the Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and the American billionaire Wes Edens.
