The FA Cup tie between Haringey and Yeovil, abandoned when players walked off the field following allegations of racist abuse, is to be replayed next week.

Midway through the second-half of the fourth qualifying round tie, a number of Haringey players claimed to have been the subject of sickening comments, while their goalkeeper alleged that he was hit by stones and bottles from Yeovil supporters shortly after their side had taken the lead.

Both sets of players subsequently left the field. The FA and the Met Police have launched investigations which are continuing. On Monday night, both sides went into the draw for the First Round.

An FA spokesperson said: 'Following the abandonment of the Emirates FA Cup fourth round qualifying fixture between Haringey Borough and Yeovil Town, the FA Challenge Cup Committee has made the decision for the original fixture to be replayed on Tuesday 29 October at Haringey Borough FC.

'In the event that a replay is required this shall be played on Tuesday 5 November.

'Following the incident in the original tie and the two arrests already made, The FA's investigation is ongoing. We are continuing to work with the relevant authorities on our investigation into the matter.'

Northampton later revealed they had been 'made aware' of alleged discriminatory chanting from Salford fans during Saturday's game at Sixfields.

A statement on Town's website read: 'The club understands that the allegations centre around the chanting of words that are offensive and discriminatory towards the traveller community.

'We urge any supporter who may have heard or witnessed any such chanting from individuals within the Salford City supporters section, or who may have any information in relation to this matter, to please contact Northamptonshire Police by calling 101.'
