In an interview with Manchester United's official club, Yoro spoke about Manchester United's return to the Champions League this season.

Leny, when we mention the Champions League, what words and feelings first come to your mind?

Yoro: I would say, it's "magic."

Manchester United returns to the Champions League this season. Looking back at last season, the whole team put in a lot of effort to qualify for the Champions League. What do you think about all this?

Yoro: I think it's very important for us to return to the highest level of European competition, especially after a season like the one two years ago. The Champions League is the highest level of club competition, and it means even more to participate in it while wearing the Manchester United jersey.

After returning to Carrington for pre-season training, can you feel the anticipation everyone has for this season—especially for the return to the Champions League?

Yoro: Of course, everyone is full of anticipation and motivation for the new season. Once all my teammates return, we will definitely be ready.

This will be your first time playing in the Champions League in your career. From a personal perspective, how do you feel now?

Yoro: I think all players in the world want to participate in this competition. I've played in the Europa Conference League and the Europa League, and now I'm finally going to play in the Champions League. So I think this is a great step up.

This is a new stage in your career. Have the players in the team who have played in the Champions League shared with you what the competition is like? After all, the Champions League has always been considered the highest level of European club football.

Yoro: Of course. They told me that when you train with the Champions League match ball and hear the Champions League anthem, the feeling is completely different from the league. You will face teams from different clubs all over the world, so they have been talking to me about the atmosphere of the Champions League and the unique magic of this competition. Almost all of them have played in the Champions League, and everyone says it's a wonderful experience to participate, so I can't wait.

Two years ago, when you joined Manchester United, you said in your first interview that you didn't want to reveal your goals. At that time, was one of your goals to play in the Champions League for Manchester United?

Yoro: Of course. Manchester United, with its past achievements, should be in the Champions League. I think we deserve to be here, and I hope we can achieve very good results in the Champions League this season.

At that time, you also mentioned that you had communicated with Rio Ferdinand. Was this also one of the topics you discussed - representing Manchester United on the biggest stage in Europe?

Yoro: Of course. He knows very well what the Champions League is like because he played in it himself. He told me to be prepared because the Champions League is completely different from the league, it's a higher level. You have to be prepared, there are many top players there. As I've always said, I can't wait.

When you first joined, you also said that you liked playing against the best players, and you mentioned Mbappé and Watkins at that time. I guess the Champions League is exactly where you expect to be, because it gathers the best players in Europe.

Yoro: Yes, as I said, the Champions League has the best players in the world. You will encounter all kinds of different types of forwards, all kinds of different styles of opponents, and every game will not be easy. So you have to be prepared, and I really can't wait to play against these players.

You must have watched a lot of Champions League matches when you were a child, right? What are your earliest memories of the Champions League?

Yoro: Of course, I started watching the Champions League when I was very young. My most vivid memory is probably the comeback match between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona. Later, there were many other classic matches, such as Manchester United's comeback against Paris, which also left a very deep impression on me. The Champions League has too many crazy matches, and we also experienced some exciting matches in the Europa League last season, so I am even more excited for the Champions League.

The Champions League seems to have a unique charm, and many players are remembered for their performances in it. Which players come to mind when you think of the Champions League?

Yoro: To be honest, many players, it feels like once they're in the Champions League, they enter another state, which is why the Champions League is so magical. For example, the best players like Ronaldo and Messi, everything they have created in the Champions League is incredible, especially Ronaldo, his performance in the Champions League is truly outstanding. Many players show a completely different side of themselves once they are in the Champions League.

You just mentioned that you have participated in the Europa Conference League and the Europa League. How will these experiences help you prepare for the Champions League?

Yoro: I think the level of the Champions League is clearly higher. Of course, the Europa League and the Europa Conference League also have many excellent teams, but the Champions League is different; it is the highest stage you can reach. I think we are now ready to participate in this competition.

Many players say that domestic leagues and European competitions are completely different. Although you haven't played in the Champions League yet, when you were at Lille, playing in Ligue 1, the Europa League, and the Europa Conference League, did you feel the same way?

Yoro: Of course it's different. Because you are facing teams from different countries and different football cultures. Even when you meet an English team in a European competition, the feeling of the game is completely different from the league. European competitions have always been a different kind of game, so you have to be prepared at all times.

You might encounter your old club Lille in the Champions League, as they also qualified. If you do meet, would you be excited?

Yoro: Of course. If I can play against them, whether I go back there or they come to Old Trafford, I'd be very happy.

The Champions League draw is coming up. The format has also changed in recent years, from group stages to a league phase. Will you be following the draw?

Yoro: Of course. I think we will watch the draw together to see which opponents we will face. It's also interesting to wait for the results together.

What do you think of the format change? In the past, it was a group stage, but now there are more matches and more opponents.

Yoro: I think it's pretty good. The new format means you have more opportunities to play against different teams. I think it's a good thing to be able to face more different teams, and if you can go further in this competition, you will also encounter more different opponents.

Michael Carrick won the Champions League as a player. Has he spoken to the team about this competition and its importance to Manchester United?

Yoro: Of course. I think everyone knows how important the Champions League is to Manchester United. As you said, the manager has won the Champions League before, so he will help us a lot in this regard. Of course, we are not under pressure, we just hope to achieve good results in this competition, and we have a very good manager to lead us.

So, what do you think should be the team's goal in the Champions League this season? What kind of results can we achieve?

Yoro: When you play for Manchester United, the goal is always to win the trophy. We want to win the championship and go as far as possible. I think we have the team, the fans, the stage, and everything we need to achieve this goal, so we will give it our all.

Finally, for you personally, what would you like to say you've achieved when you sit here this time next year, after this season's Champions League?

Yoro: First and foremost, of course, is to truly step onto the Champions League stage, gain more match experience, and hopefully keep clean sheets and win more games. And if possible, why not win the Champions League trophy?
