Real Madrid have officially announced the first-team shirt numbers for the 2026-27 season. One of the most notable changes is Huijsen, who wore number 24 last season and has now switched to number 4, a shirt with significant symbolic meaning and historical depth at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

The Spanish center-back posted on social media, mentioning other legendary players who have worn the jersey, including Sergio Ramos, Fernando Hierro, and Alaba, who left after last season.
"It has always been my dream to play for Real Madrid and wear the number 4 jersey. When I was a child, Sergio Ramos, wearing number 4, was my idol. He is a true legend of Real Madrid and world football. I remember wearing his boots because I wanted to be a player like him," Huijsen wrote.
"Before him, Fernando Hierro, a football legend, also wore Real Madrid's number 4 jersey. What delights me even more is that, like me, he was born in Malaga. Later, another legendary player took over this number, and I was fortunate enough to work with him in the same team. Without a doubt, Alaba is one of the best teammates and most pleasant people I have known in my football career. He always trains hard and is ready to help everyone with his experience and leadership," the center-back added.
"I want to thank the club, the president, the head coach, all the players, and all the fans of this great club. I know this jersey number carries a rich legacy, and I hope to write my own story so that one day people will consider me worthy of this jersey and this number. But I can assure you that I will give my all every day, whether in training or in matches."
