Scholes' assessment of Tielemans is enough to make Manchester United fans excited about what the Belgian midfielder can bring to Carrick's midfield "engine room."

"I think Tielemans can be a 9 or a 2," Scholes said in an interview with the "Football's What We're Talking About" show.

"I used to be like that, an 8 when I was good, and a 2 when I was bad. I think that's just his style of play. In some games, you'd think he completely deserves to be in the best team in the world, but sometimes..."

"At Villa, or Leicester City where he used to play, such fluctuations in form might be acceptable, but at Manchester United, you have to perform well in four out of five games; you can't have two or three poor games out of five."

If Tielemans can integrate into the team and inspire his teammates like Scholes did back then, Carrick will certainly be very pleased with this signing.

Nicky Butt also expressed his opinion, believing that Tielemans has the potential to be the best signing of the summer.

Butt added: "At a club like Villa – no offense to Villa, they are a big club, but the outside world doesn't expect them to contend for the title; Manchester United is different, regardless of the squad, they are expected to contend for the title every year."

"I hope this pressure will push him forward and make him realize, 'Yes, I have to be fully focused in every game'."

"In terms of value for money, if his price tag was £70 million, £80 million, or even £90 million, the conclusion might be different. But for this price and the player we're getting, as long as he has the right teammates around him, I think he will be the best signing of the summer."
