According to the latest report from The Times, Manchester City knows that insisting on a high asking price for Rodri is unrealistic, but this is related to their desire to sign Enzo.

Manchester City reportedly rejected Barcelona's second official bid for Rodri, after Barcelona increased their offer from €45 million + add-ons to €55-60 million + add-ons, with a total value of up to €65 million, but Manchester City still insists on a fixed transfer fee of €70-80 million.

Although Manchester City knows that Rodri has agreed to join Barcelona and believes that demanding such a high transfer fee for a player whose contract expires in 2027 is unrealistic, they still refuse. Rodri will report back to the team this Friday, which is a tricky issue for all parties.

Manchester City's asking price is related to their desire to sign Enzo. Chelsea has put a £120 million (€140 million) price tag on the deal, and Manchester City needs to raise funds. If Manchester City terminates negotiations with Barcelona, they may not only miss out on €60 million but also dissatisfy Rodri. At the same time, Barcelona cannot give him up.
