According to Italian media reports, AC Milan and Juventus could complete a player exchange involving Nicolò Gonzalez, Youssouf Fofana, or Tomori before the transfer market closes.

With Serie A set to begin in a week, both AC Milan and Juventus managers Ruben Amorim and Luciano Spalletti are still working to resolve issues with "surplus" players at their respective clubs. These players currently remain on the squad lists of both teams but are considered likely to leave.
At Juventus, Nicolò Gonzalez is a candidate to depart because he has expressed a lack of desire to continue with the club. At AC Milan, Youssouf Fofana has fallen out of the manager's plans. Both have been excluded from squad activities for different reasons, but as time passes, they could become opportunities for their rival club.
Spalletti has made clear that he wants "similar" players in every position to strengthen the team through healthy competition. Juventus has long sought a strong, healthy midfielder with defensive capabilities to pair with or rotate alongside Locatelli and Khéphren Thuram. Although Kessie remains a first-choice option, after Amorim added Fofana to AC Milan's excluded list, Fofana's agent contacted Juventus management to propose moving the player to Turin.
Additionally, considering the potential departures of Gatti and Rugani, Juventus also needs a right-back before the transfer window closes. According to Sky Sports, Tomori has re-entered Juventus's focus and is also on AC Milan's transfer list.
AC Milan, meanwhile, is looking to complete an attacking overhaul by signing new players to play behind Gonçalo Ramos. Currently, only Pulisic is confirmed to stay with the club (Loftus-Cheek can play in multiple positions), while Nkunku and Leão could still depart, meaning replacements will be needed. New signing Moreira can play as a forward or winger, so AC Milan needs at least one more player, preferably a left-winger.
At this point, Nicolò Gonzalez has become a target of interest. After playing on loan at Atlético Madrid before returning to Juventus, he has made clear to Spalletti that he does not wish to stay and wants to return to Simeone's team. His agent is waiting for a final opportunity to go back to Atlético Madrid, but has also offered the player to AC Milan, and the Rossoneri have not closed the door.
As the transfer market closes, according to Tuttosport, the possibility of a direct exchange between the two players is increasing. Both sides would need to resolve the difference in player valuations, but the gap is not significant. Nicolò Gonzalez remains a possible option for Fofana, though not yet a priority, and a similar exchange arrangement could also work for Tomori.
