Alan Shearer criticized Manchester United's attack as "poor" following a surprising defeat to Hull City.
Premier League legend Shearer said on Match of the Day: "It doesn't matter if Hull City played with three, four, or five defenders, because Manchester United played poorly everywhere, especially in attack. They couldn't do anything."
Shearer added: "From the first minute, it looked like only one team would win this match. You could see their energy, you could see their intensity."
"That's what's concerning. When you're a newly promoted team playing away from home, you know what to expect. Manchester United at least had to match their intensity, but they didn't, and they couldn't compete with Hull City."
Manchester United deployed Matheus Cunha as center forward, Bryan Mbeumo on the right wing, Patric Dorgu on the left wing, and Bruno Fernandes as number 10. Rashford, who was loaned to Barcelona last season and is wearing the number 9 this season, came on as a substitute in the second half, and Benjamin Šeško entered the pitch in the 66th minute. Joshua Zirkzee remained unused.
Michael Carrick was appointed Manchester United's permanent head coach in May following an impressive caretaker spell. Facing this defeat, he refused to panic.
Carrick said: "This doesn't mean we all need to shout and create chaos because of this loss. Everyone in the squad is disappointed, and the players know that. We need to be better."
However, Bruno Fernandes appeared more frustrated, telling Turner Sports: "The same mistakes as last season, every away match is like this."
Hull City manager Shota Arveladze believes confidence will be key to his team's success this season.
Hull City last played at this level in 2017. Before this season began, many thought the club could immediately return to the Championship, but they faced Carrick's Manchester United. In the 17th minute, Júnior Ajayi put Hull City ahead, and in the 38th minute, Nobuhle Mngomeni doubled the lead with a header.
Arveladze hopes this victory will boost the entire team's confidence. Before the season started, the club was determined to defy the lack of confidence shown by commentators. He said: "I'm very happy. The players gave everything on the pitch today, as we had agreed before the match. We've been working on these things all week, and today it paid off, and I'm very, very pleased with that."
Arveladze added: "This victory will give us great momentum for the future. I've been talking about our chances of winning all week, and perhaps that's the key, because I had to make the players believe we could compete at this level."

Arveladze said: "Last season we proved we are very strong mentally and can compete with any opponent, and perhaps that's the key."
"This victory is amazing because now the players believe they can compete at this level."
Arveladze also believes this victory will help Hull City attract players in the transfer market. He added: "They'll come now, 100%. I have no doubt about that."
