Milan midfielder Adrien Rabiot came on as a second-half substitute against Torino. After the match, he spoke to DAZN about owner Cardinale and his new position.

Speaking about Cardinale's recent frequent contact with the team, Rabiot said the owner's support is important: "I think it's very important for the team to have the owner's support. We spoke a few days ago, and he also communicated with many players, expressing his trust in us and telling us what he expects from the team. I think the relevant images said it all. It's very important that he is with us. The first game was good, and winning was crucial. After that, we still have time to improve with the coach in the areas where we didn't perform well enough."

Asked whether he decided to stay after speaking with Cardinale, Rabiot said he had already made up his mind: "Actually, it wasn't necessary. I went on vacation and relaxed. After the World Cup, that's very important. When I came back, I was very eager to continue here and achieve good results with my teammates and the new coach. I am very confident about that."

When asked whether he had considered leaving Milan after Allegri's departure, Rabiot answered in the negative: "No. I am someone who likes to do things well. After such a season finale, I wouldn't want to leave Milan just because we couldn't participate in the Champions League."

He revealed that the new coach quickly expressed confidence in him: "After I learned about the new coach, although we didn't communicate much during the World Cup, he quickly sent me a message telling me that I was very important to the team's plans. I had already decided to stay, but I needed to step away temporarily and take a vacation. That helped me a lot."

In this match, Rabiot was deployed in the attacking midfield position in a 3-4-2-1 system. He said he was comfortable in this role: "After communicating with the coach, we both agreed that I can play either as a double pivot or as an attacking midfielder. I am willing to help the team in midfield or play further forward. This position is somewhat similar to the role I played under De Zerbi at Marseille. I am familiar with and like this position because I can get into the box and score goals, which is something I like to do."

Rabiot also endorsed the team’s current tactical philosophy: “I like the coach’s game philosophy, including possession and playing more aggressively through high pressing after losing the ball. These are all things I like, so I’m very happy.”

Finally, Rabiot acknowledged that his physical condition has not yet reached its peak: "I've only trained with the team for a week, but I tried to give 100%. I still need to keep working hard because I'm not yet back to my best. However, I'm still very happy to have scored a goal and provided an assist tonight."
