NEC Nijmegen general manager Wilco van Schaik previously stated that there are no champion-level facilities in Norway. These comments caught the attention of NEC's opponent Bodø/Glimt, and the club's spokesperson denied the conditions described by Van Schaik.

Van Schaik responded further, believing that NEC's management had misrepresented his words.

"We had lunch with Bodø/Glimt's management and board members. In my speech, I clearly expressed that we really understood their approach. On our end, we also have to prepare the visiting team's players on the pitch, and our staff and coaching teams have to pass through there as well, which is not ideal. We are in similar situations as other clubs in comparable circumstances."

But from within these constraints, we still strive to succeed and create amazing things."
