This week, Antony gave an exclusive interview to Transfermarkt, discussing his life at Real Betis, his most memorable moments at Manchester United, and his inability to join the Brazilian national team for the 2026 World Cup.

How is life at Betis?

"Since I arrived here, I knew I had to do my best to help my teammates. I am a very ambitious person, and I always strive to do more. I always feel there is room for improvement. This thought is always on my mind. I've thought this way since I was a child."

"From the beginning, I knew I had to do something to change the situation, to make a positive contribution, and thank God, since coming here, not only because of my personal contributions but also because of the efforts of my teammates, we are improving every day, every season."

"I see that Betis is much better now than before, and I feel that I performed very well last season. Of course, my physical condition did have some limitations, but I still ended the season in good shape, contributing goals and assists."

"And we successfully qualified for the Champions League, which means a lot to me. Since joining Betis, I knew I had to do my best to help the club return to the Champions League after more than 20 years. Because this club, the people here, and the fans deserve this honor."

What are your current goals?

"I feel that I still have a lot to improve on, and this year I am working hard to do better every season than the last."

You were not selected for the Brazilian national team's World Cup squad this summer.

"It would be a dream to participate in my second World Cup, but that's part of football. Of course, I was sad to see Brazil lose to Uruguay. I was at home cheering for them, and I really wanted to be there to contribute, but that's football."

"The most important thing is to do my job, and the results will naturally follow. I always keep in mind that I must focus on what I can control. Some other things are not within my control; they are decided by others, and I don't need to worry about them. I must do my job and continue to work hard to be selected for the national team. Wearing the Brazilian jersey is a very special thing."

After joining Betis, the people of the city expressed their love and support for you, which helped you regain your best form.

"The answer to this question is simple: I am happy, and when you feel comfortable and happy, everything becomes easier and more natural. Here, in a short time, I already feel at home, thanks to the people here."

"I thank them for their love for me, and I thank them for my love for them. Being myself, staying happy, and enjoying the football I love makes everything easier. For me, the key is happiness."

Looking back at your career at Manchester United, you scored your first goal in your debut against Arsenal in front of 74,310 fans, helping the team win 3-1, and you also played alongside Ronaldo.

"For me, that was a truly unforgettable moment. It was my first home game after a very difficult negotiation period. Playing at home in front of over 70,000 fans felt amazing. (laughs)"

"Of course, the most important thing was to win, but scoring a goal also meant a lot to me, and experiencing that moment with Ronaldo will undoubtedly be etched in my memory forever. It was a very special day."

Rashford returned to Manchester United after being on loan at Barcelona last season.

"He is a top player. He is not only skilled but also a good person. Although I haven't been in touch with him for a while, he knows how much I care about and respect him, and whenever things go well for him, I am genuinely happy for him."

"As for the club situation, he is a Manchester United player, and Manchester United is a top club. He performed well at Barcelona and had a good season, but I think it's now up to Rashford himself to decide."

"He needs to feel comfortable and choose where he wants to go. Whether he stays at Manchester United or chooses another team, I think he will be very happy. The most important thing is for him to be happy."
