According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Bologna CEO Fenucci spoke about Jonathan Rowe's transfer to Atalanta, stating that selling him was in the best interest of the club.

Two days after the summer transfer window closed, Bologna CEO Fenucci reviewed the team's transfers and departures over the past three months. Recently, the Rossoblù's focus has been on Rowe's transfer to Atalanta, and Fenucci addressed it.
Fenucci said at the press conference: "Jonathan had previously shown some personality issues, and you know what happened to him at Olympique Marseille. Although there were no offers at the time, he showed some dissatisfaction during training camp, and that's when he showed a lack of respect for his teammates. Additionally, if we had kept him, there might have been problems later, which would have negatively impacted the team."
Subsequently, Fenucci explained the reason for the final decision to let him leave: "This was also related to his competition with Cambiaso, who was performing better than him at the time and deserved to play. We weighed everything, and ultimately saw that a conflict was also forming between him and his agent. For the good of the club, we decided to sell him."
