"Because relegation threats have been resolved from one season to the next, we've developed an unwarranted and irrational sense of complacency."

When discussing the club's ownership, Fernando's stance was even more forthright. He believes Valencia's major shareholder should have stepped down long ago, and the club's sporting leadership must be held accountable.

"I think the club's major shareholder should have stopped being a major shareholder a long time ago," Fernando said. "I think the experts managing sporting matters could have done better, even with all the money they've received."

He also criticized the club's lack of transparency, believing the board should explain the reasoning behind major decisions to supporters.

"No one at the club explains to supporters why these decisions are made," he said. "There's no sporting director who occasionally comes out to hold a press conference to explain why certain decisions were made."

Fernando's assessment of Baraja was equally blunt. He stated that while he does not support frequent managerial changes, in his personal opinion, Baraja should not have started this season as manager.

"I don't think Baraja should have started coaching this season, but since he did, you shouldn't extend his contract for another year."

Fernando believes the club's decision to extend Baraja's contract at that time seemed premature. "You shouldn't give him another year because he hasn't yet proven himself. If he proves his worth in the remainder of this season, then another year would be acceptable."

However, he also emphasized that he does not wish for Baraja to fail, because if the manager ultimately leads the team to success, Valencia would still benefit.

Fernando also discussed the future of captain Gayà. Currently, Gayà has one year remaining on his Valencia contract, and the club has offered him a renewal. The Valencia legend believes Gayà should seriously consider his career and make decisions based more on sporting aspects than financial factors.

"When you've been here for many years and things haven't gone smoothly, fans always see the same familiar faces and sometimes feel tired," Fernando said. "I think the main reason for his decision should be based on sporting aspects rather than financial ones."

Regarding this season's objectives, Fernando has modest expectations. In his view, given Valencia's current situation, successfully avoiding relegation would be enough.
