Reflecting on his 73 goals and how they compare to Messi and Ronaldo's peak seasons, Kane said: "I grew up watching Messi and Ronaldo play, witnessing their era of continuous dominance in football. There's no doubt—Messi has scored more goals than me. He scored 82 goals. As for Ronaldo's best season, I remember his highest tally was 69 goals. These numbers used to seem exaggerated to me, but they're real."

"They are the two greatest players of our era, arguably the best in history. So to achieve 73 goals, even I was quite surprised."
