Premier League legend Alan Shearer has criticized Bruno Fernandes for "pathetic" diving during the Manchester derby on the podcast "The Rest Is Football," arguing that both he and Foden deserved to be sent off.

On Sunday at Old Trafford, Foden retaliated against a Manchester United player in the first half, resulting in Man City playing with 10 men for most of the match. However, Foden appeared to have been kicked before going down.

Referee Michael Oliver showed Foden a red card but did not punish Bruno Fernandes. Shearer believes that if Foden and Bruno Fernandes' reactions were similar, either both should have been sent off or neither should have received a red card.

Shearer said: "I think the way Bruno Fernandes went down was pathetic. He contributed to Foden being sent off. Yes, Foden kicked him, but Bruno Fernandes also kicked Foden."

Shearer added: "Foden's kick was reckless, but Bruno Fernandes did the same thing. If Michael Oliver thought Foden's action deserved a red card, then surely both players should have been sent off."
