According to Evening Standard, Arsenal will rotate their lineup in the League Cup, with Zubimendi and two other players competing for playing time.

Arsenal are expected to rotate, but the squad has significant depth, particularly in midfield, so even with considerable changes to the starting lineup, this competition should still be where the club aims to progress.

Arteta has largely kept the same starting XI in the Premier League, making these cup matches increasingly important for players hoping to earn playing time.

Below are three players who need to seize their opportunity in the match against Ipswich:

Martin Zubimendi has not started a single match this season, with all five appearances coming from the bench. Three of those were within the final 10 minutes.

At this point last season, Zubimendi not only started all five opening matches but played the full 90 minutes in each one.

He scored two goals in a win over Nottingham Forest and quickly established himself as a regular alongside Rice.

But things are different now. Zubimendi has been overtaken by Saliba and Guimarães in the midfield pecking order.

However, this could be beneficial for Arsenal. Last season, Zubimendi's form dropped significantly in the second half due to fatigue, ultimately leading to physical exhaustion.

That situation should not repeat itself, but Zubimendi will want to fight his way back into the Premier League starting XI, beginning with a strong performance against Ipswich.

Gyökeres' decline is even more stark.

He was not even on the bench in three of Arsenal's four league matches this season. In the remaining match, a win against Chelsea, he featured for only 12 minutes.

Gyökeres started in the Champions League match against Napoli, touching the ball just 9 times in 73 minutes. Arsenal had 26 shots in that match, and Gyökeres did not attempt any.

He appears to lack confidence, and Havertz's excellent form has only compounded Gyökeres' difficulties in contributing to Arsenal's overall attacking play.

Arsenal hope to compete for all four trophies, and Havertz has a history of injuries in recent seasons, so Gyökeres will still have plenty of playing time throughout the campaign.

When his chance comes, Arsenal need more from him. If he can find space in the box and score goals, his limited involvement in open play can still be forgiven.

Last season in the league, 11 of Gyökeres' 14 goals came against teams in the bottom half of the table. The other three were scored at home against Sunderland and Bournemouth.

So Ipswich are exactly the kind of opponent he should relish facing.

This League Cup away trip also appears to be a particularly important night for Eze.

With Ødegaard back in form and Merino now preferred, Eze's path to midfield playing time is becoming increasingly crowded.

His appearances have been mainly on the left wing, but even there, opportunities are scarce as Trossard is now the first-choice option on the left.

Eze impressed after coming off the bench against Aston Villa and was involved in Arsenal's winning goal in that match.

Beyond that, however, he has had a fairly quiet start to the season. He failed to make a real impact when starting against Napoli, and his other substitute appearances have been relatively unremarkable.

When Trossard is in top form, he cuts in from the left to combine with Ødegaard in midfield. Three of his four assists have gone to the Arsenal captain.

This role would suit Eze well: primarily operating from the left but also free to cut inside.

However, this season there are few signs he is reaching his best form. If he wants to be more than a rotation option, that needs to change.
