The Athletic published a lengthy article analyzing why Ferran Torres' transfer this summer is so complicated. In an interview with media, Ferran said: "I'm just waiting to make the right decision, but I don't know the answer yet."

On Monday local time, Ferran Torres' trip to New York caught Barcelona off guard. His interviews with several American media outlets about his future only heightened the already tense situation.

A few hours later, Ferran Torres gave another interview to Sportico, also addressing rumors of Paris Saint-Germain's interest in him.

Ferran Torres said: "It's always good when these teams want you. In football, you never know what will happen, but the good thing is that since I have a contract, I can wait and make my own decision."

"What does Barcelona need to do to keep me? They have to show me they want me, to negotiate, and in the end, it's all about communication."

As it stands, from January next year, Ferran Torres can negotiate a free transfer with other clubs without Barcelona's approval, as his contract will have only six months remaining.

Ferran Torres also told CNN: "All I know right now is that I have to be back at Barcelona for training by August 12, but in football, everything can change in a minute, and I have to be prepared for any situation."

Ferran Torres' public statements surprised Barcelona. Barcelona fans also appear unhappy that he is openly linking himself with other clubs, especially since he has underperformed expectations since joining from Manchester City in January 2022. Even if a renewal might exceed what Deco and Flick consider reasonable, should Barcelona still attempt to sign a new contract with Ferran Torres? Is it worth approving his sale given the striker shortage?
