On August 8, Arsenal officially announced that Brazilian international Bruno Guimaraes had joined the club. He will wear the No. 39 jersey in the new season.

The Brazilian midfielder confirmed in an interview that No. 39 holds special significance for him, and he will continue to wear this number throughout his career.

Guimaraes said: "No. 39 means everything to me. I also have a tattoo of No. 39."

"My father was a taxi driver in Brazil for over 20 years. That taxi gave my family everything—where we lived, food, clothes, and everything else."

Guimaraes revealed that he initially chose No. 39 on his father's suggestion. When he had the opportunity to join Clube Atlético Paranaense, he asked his father which number he should choose.

"I asked my father what number I should choose, and he told me 39. At the time I was a little disappointed because I wanted to choose 97."

"But he said: 'No, no, choose 39. That 39 gave you everything.'"

Guimaraes then recalled his experience during a medical examination at Clube Atlético Paranaense.

"When I arrived at Clube Atlético Paranaense for my medical, I opened my luggage and the No. 39 jersey was already inside. I was very surprised."

"I asked the kit manager: 'Why 39?' He said: 'If you don't like it, you can change the number.'"

"I told him: 'No, no, no, this is exactly the number I want!'"

Guimaraes said that his father was very emotional when he heard about it.

"At that moment, I called my father. When I told him about the experience, he cried. He said: 'I told you, this number will bring you good luck.'"

"Since then, I have always worn 39."

As an important summer signing for Arsenal, Guimaraes hopes to start a new chapter in his career in North London. The Brazilian international stated that his goal at Arsenal is clear: to help the team win trophies and leave his mark on the club's history.

"I want to win trophies, I want to make history, and I think I've come to the right place."

"I want my name to be written in the club's history. In the future, when young players come here, I want them to be able to say: 'I want to do what Bruno once did for this club.'"
