According to Bild, Bayer Leverkusen is still awaiting Diaby's return, with both sides having agreed on a contract until 2031, but the transfer is not yet complete.

Diaby played for his current club, Al-Ittihad, in the AFC Champions League qualifiers on Tuesday evening, providing an assist in their 4-1 victory over Al Jazira. Al-Ittihad secured a spot in the AFC Champions League Elite as a result. Diaby started the match and was substituted in the 65th minute. Bayer Leverkusen's management was aware beforehand that he would participate in this crucial game.
But will this truly be Diaby's farewell match? He has already reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign a contract until 2031 if he returns, with a transfer fee close to 30 million euros. However, Diaby and Al-Ittihad have not yet agreed on compensation. His contract with Al-Ittihad runs until 2029, and his current annual net salary is reportedly 10 million euros; his income would significantly decrease if he joins Bayer Leverkusen. Internazionale has also recently shown strong interest in him.
However, Al-Ittihad's coach, 38-year-old German Jens Wissing, does not want to let go of this key player. Wissing took over the team in early July this year. On Wednesday morning, when asked by Bild about Diaby, he said: "Moussa is outstanding! Any coach would be delighted to have a player like him in their team."
