Sky Sport Italia reports that Internazionale will host Monza, and Thuram is expected to return to the starting lineup.

In the first round of the new Serie A season, reigning champions Internazionale will host newly promoted Monza, coached by Ivan Jurić, at the San Siro Stadium at 00:30 on August 23rd (CEST). Inter previously played a friendly match at the Stadio San Nicola in Bari, where they defeated Spanish side Real Betis 1-0 with a corner kick header from new signing Stones. Thuram did not play in that match and was not even on the bench.

According to Sky Sport journalist Massimiliano Nebuloni, Thuram trained normally with the entire squad today. This is good news for coach Chivu, as the French forward will be available for the league debut against Monza. However, there is still doubt whether captain Lautaro will start, as he may begin the match from the bench. Chivu might deploy a forward combination of Thuram and Pio Esposito in the first match.
