Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle has told Sky Sports that the club's current squad still needs "adjustments" in the final phase of the summer transfer window, with the board aware of recruitment needs and all parties aligned on strengthening the squad.

Newcastle has undergone significant personnel changes this summer, with key players including Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali, and Anthony Gordon departing the club, while former manager Eddie Howe has also left. Jaissle took over in early August and must complete squad adjustments and establish his tactical system in a relatively short timeframe.
Newcastle has signed several players this summer, including Amar Dedic from Benfica. Dedic previously worked with Jaissle, and when asked about the new signing, Jaissle said: "We will trust in him."
When asked how many more players he wants to sign before the transfer window closes, Jaissle declined to give a specific number: "I'd love to give a clear number, but that also depends on whether any more players leave."
"There will certainly be some adjustments, and our needs are very clear. The board knows what the team needs, and we are completely aligned on this. We will make the most of the remaining time in the transfer window, but at the same time, we also trust in the players already here."
Newcastle's summer recruitment has clearly focused on young players, with 4 of the 7 new signings under 21 years old, including Shane Kluivert, who joined from Ajax at just 18 years old. Jaissle believes these young players need sufficient time to adapt to the Premier League.
Jaissle said: "Typically, you need to give players time to adapt, so I'm saying we must be patient with them and give them time. It's always a process."
"We shouldn't put too much pressure on them from the start. The club's goal is to work with young players and develop them. I'm pleased to see that, because this represents a very clear development philosophy for the club."
Jaissle believes his coaching experience aligns well with Newcastle's current plan: "That's also why I came here. I've been used to working with young players during my time at Salzburg, and I've also worked with star players in Saudi Arabia, so that fits very well, and we can continue building the team on that basis."
Facing Newcastle's current rebuilding task, Jaissle said he does not feel intimidated: "Before taking over, I tried not to overthink things. I knew it would be a challenge. In a process like this, there will always be obstacles along the way, but we have to overcome them. We need to see the opportunities inherent in all of this."
"We've talked about this before. I feel the players are very committed and ready to face the challenges during this transition period. I'm very optimistic about the future."
Jaissle also acknowledged that the timing of his appointment to Newcastle was not ideal. Having become manager in early August, the coaching staff had very little time to implement changes.
He said: "You all know, as do I, that we have to address some issues in a very short time. The timing is not ideal, but in football, you can't always have the perfect moment, so we have to do our best."
"In such a short timeframe, we must be efficient and implement as much of our football philosophy as possible, so the players understand how to take the field and meet our demands. They've done very well so far, are very committed and learn quickly, but it's still a process."
Newcastle will host Liverpool at home in the Premier League, which will be an important test for Jaissle since taking charge. Regarding the team's current condition, he frankly acknowledged that Newcastle won't be at full fitness when they face Liverpool.
"Against Liverpool, we certainly won't be at 100%. But with the support of our fans, with the backing from the stands, we can do something special at St. James' Park. I've felt this power during our previous friendlies."
The match also holds special significance. Kevin Keegan, who passed away this summer, played for both Newcastle and Liverpool, and the two clubs will host a series of events before the match to honor the legendary player.
Jaissle said: "With these tributes, the match itself is already very special. There will certainly be a wonderful atmosphere. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps—I can't wait."
