According to reports from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland has reached a verbal agreement with Olympique Marseille winger Dimitri Payet on personal terms.

Sky Sports previously reported that Sunderland had made an offer to Olympique Marseille for the 26-year-old Payet, and now according to Romano, Sunderland has reached a verbal agreement with Payet on personal terms.

Romano's report further states that negotiations between Sunderland and Olympique Marseille are currently underway. The Black Cats' initial offer has been rejected by Olympique Marseille, but the two clubs remain in talks.
