Borussia Dortmund came back from two goals down to maintain their perfect start to the Bundesliga campaign after downing Hoffenheim 3-2 at SNP Arena. 

Leon Avdullahu and Tim Lemperle had put Hoffenheim in control by the 54th minute, with Serhou Guirassy beginning the turnaround with a fine finish just after the hour. 

Fabio Silva hauled the visitors level before Albian Hajdari turned into his own net four minutes from time, giving Niko Kovac a win in his 50th game in charge of Dortmund. 

After a dominant start, Hoffenheim's pressure was rewarded on the stroke of half-time through Avdullahu, who curled a stunning finish beyond Gregor Kobel from distance. 

It got even better for Hoffenheim nine minutes after the restart when Lemperle shrugged off Joane Gadou before his shot deflected off Waldemar Anton and looped into the net.

However, Dortmund hit back just after the hour when Anton dispossessed Avdullahu before feeding into Guirassy, who dinked the ball over the on-rushing Oliver Baumann. 

After scoring, Kovac replaced Konstantinos Karetsas with Silva, and his substitute made an immediate impact by scoring Dortmund's equaliser in the 66th minute with a low left-footed finish that crashed off the right post on its way in. 

Dortmund's comeback was complete when Ethan Nwaneri, on his Dortmund debut, saw his cross deflect into the net off the unfortunate Hajdari as he tried to clear the danger, sealing the win for Kovac's side.

After following up their 2-0 win over Hamburg in their Bundesliga opener with a 5-0 thrashing of HEBC in the DFB-Pokal, Dortmund arrived in Hoffenheim with confidence, though they needed to show another side of their game to get all three points here.

Dortmund came from at least two goals down to win a Bundesliga away match for only the sixth time, last doing so in a 3-2 victory at Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2022. Overall, they have now picked up points in three top-flight matches in 2026 after trailing by two goals. 

And the comeback gave Kovac a memorable day in his 50th match in charge. He has now collected 107 points (W33 D8 L10) in his half-century of games at the helm, setting a new club record. He surpasses the previous record held by Lucien Favre (106), while also overtaking Thomas Tuchel (105) with his latest triumph. 

Dortmund have also now won their opening two Bundesliga matches of a season for the first time in four years, while this was their fourth consecutive league victory across two seasons, and they were just about deserving of their victory too. 

They finished with an expected goals (xG) total of 2.02 from their 11 attempts to Hoffenheim's tally of 1.17 from their 18 shots, with Dortmund's attention now turning to the Champions League, with Villarreal their opponents next Tuesday.
