In the 4th round of the Premier League, Arsenal defeated Sunderland 2-0 away. After the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke to the club's official media.

Mikel, what are your thoughts on tonight's excellent victory?

Yes, it was an important victory and a very important week. We first defeated Chelsea, then won in Naples, and now we've won here. This is a very difficult away ground to play on. The football atmosphere here is fantastic, and the opponent is a very well-organized team with excellent coordination that makes your game very difficult.

Tonight the team showed many different qualities. What pleased you the most?

First, our attitude towards the game—we took the initiative from the very beginning. It was a match where the rhythm and momentum kept changing. Even a small mistake, a minor foul, or a throw-in could shift the momentum, and then you have to navigate that rollercoaster. Emotionally, it was very demanding for the players. We were in the lead at one point, then went through a difficult spell. Obviously, a penalty decision could have completely changed the course of the game. Then Davi made an incredible save.

When you talk about those magical moments, what Guimaraes accomplished was spectacular. He scored an incredible goal and provided a wonderful pass to Saka. In the end, we deserved these 3 points.

Last season we drew here, and this year we won. Is this another sign that this team is improving and growing?

We certainly hope so. But at the same time, we must give Sunderland full credit. Their style of play, their competitiveness, and how intelligently they approach different phases of the match are all excellent. They can make you experience different stages of the game. This was a very important victory for us.

Finally, you mentioned this was an important week. The same goes for the fans, who traveled all over Europe just to come here and support the team. They showed incredible support once again.

I'm very pleased that the players were able to connect with them, as their support tonight was tremendous. They have been with us throughout, and I hope they enjoy the journey home.
