Aston Villa is preparing a £30 million bid for Barcelona midfielder Bernal, according to The Sun.

The 19-year-old enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season in 2025-26 and has become one of the most outstanding young talents at the La Liga club.
Bernal made 33 appearances across all competitions and scored 5 goals as Flick's team won the title. Flick considers Bernal an important player for the team's future, and Barcelona has also listed him as "not for sale."
However, Villa is still hoping to sound out Barcelona after Unai Emery listed him at the top of his transfer wish list. Emery greatly admires Bernal and has asked Villa to approach the player.
The Sun Sport understands that Villa is preparing to submit a £30 million offer for Bernal. With Emery pushing for the deal, last season's Europa League winners are currently in pole position to sign Bernal.
However, Barcelona is reluctant to sell him, as they believe there is no player in the transfer market who can replace his talent. Barcelona has previously rejected offers of around £25 million from several clubs. Manchester City also inquired about Bernal's situation, but their interest was quickly rebuffed.
Bernal joined Barcelona's renowned La Masia academy at the age of 6. He rose through the ranks alongside Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí as part of this talented generation of Barcelona players.
