Explosive documents obtained by The Guardian reveal that Gianni Infantino had planned to collaborate with the breakaway European Super League, with some even proposing to brand it as the "FIFA Super League."

The plan for a 20-team closed competition, aimed at disrupting club-level football, was first brought to light in April 2021.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham all participated in this exclusive competition.

The plan would have created a new league with 15 permanent members, including the founding clubs Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus, along with five qualifying spots.

However, due to fierce backlash from excluded clubs, football governing bodies, and fans worldwide, the Super League plan ultimately collapsed and was abandoned.

At the time, FIFA President Gianni Infantino told UEFA Congress attendees that his organization opposed the new league proposal.

He stated: "At FIFA, we can only strongly oppose the creation of the Super League. This is a closed competition, a breakaway from existing organizations, leagues, associations, UEFA, and FIFA, operating outside the system."

"There is no doubt about it—FIFA opposes this."

However, according to The Guardian, newly revealed documents show that he had actually been deeply involved in this breakaway effort.

The report states that a term sheet dated October 2020, typically a preliminary document before final contracts are signed, shows the new league could have been branded under FIFA's name.

The Guardian also reports that FIFA was willing to temporarily disregard the views of member associations when pushing through changes to the international match calendar and bypass national federations to accelerate the Club World Cup plan.

The Club World Cup was initially planned to be held annually and directly linked to the new Super League.

The Guardian claims these incriminating documents also show FIFA was referred to as "WO1," a term used by the British military for senior officers.

The report explains that the term sheet specified that the Super League "could negotiate to name the competition WO1 SL."

The documents also stipulated that FIFA would "acquire preferred equity in the Super League," thereby securing its decision-making rights over format and schedule changes, CEO appointments, and fund distribution.

This curious revelation came one week after Infantino's plan to auction off World Cup shares was made public.

Fierce backlash from continental federations, national football associations, and even many within FIFA itself forced the Swiss official to quickly backtrack. He is now desperately trying to maintain his grip on power following a week of humiliation.

He is currently in Rabat, Morocco, where he has held emergency meetings with senior FIFA officials.

Infantino has apologized but stated he will continue fighting as the head of world football.
