In the opening match of the new Serie A season, De Bruyne broke the deadlock 15 minutes after coming on as a substitute, helping Napoli secure an away victory against Genoa. After the match, the Belgian midfielder spoke with the media.

Speaking about the match at Stadio Luigi Ferraris, De Bruyne said: "The start was difficult, but we gradually found our rhythm and turned things around. It's good to win the opening match and keep a clean sheet."
Asked whether this would be his comeback season, De Bruyne said: "Last year was tough for me. I was sidelined for six months following surgery. When I returned in March, it wasn't easy to regain my form. I hope I can stay healthy this season and enjoy playing football."
Discussing his ambitions, De Bruyne said: "The past two years have been challenging, but I believe the team knows I've always tried to contribute, and they've supported me as well. I hope we can perform better than last season."
