Germany's new head coach Klopp discussed his cooperation with assistant Kosicki while responding to external doubts about the composition of this special coaching team.

Previously, Bayern's honorary president Uli Hoeneß criticized Germany's coaching change, describing it as more like a "friendly takeover." Ahead of Bayern's Bundesliga opener against Stuttgart, Klopp responded to this in an interview with Sky Sports: "Not at all. And it doesn't matter. I totally understand, no problem. People are already judging us before we've even done anything."

Klopp stated that there is a difference in external attitudes towards him and Kosicki: "Compared to me, most people might have certain expectations for me. But Mark will be questioned because the role he is taking on did not exist before."

Kosicki will serve as "Assistant Coach for Strategy, Development, and Innovation" at the DFB, a special position that Klopp himself emphasized at his inaugural press conference.

Klopp said: "Someone said before, 'You can't just change the coach.' Okay, then we won't just change the coach. Then they'll say, 'Well, there's no need to do that now either.'"

In addition to Kosicki, Klopp's Germany national team coaching staff also includes three assistant coaches: Sven Bender, Peter Krawietz, and Pepijn Lijnders.

The DFB has also undergone management adjustments. Per Mertesacker, a member of the 2014 World Cup-winning team, will succeed departing sporting director Andreas Rettig on January 1, 2027, and will be responsible for youth development across all levels of German national teams and youth academies.

Speaking of his long-term cooperation with Kosicki, Klopp praised his longtime partner highly.

"I am convinced that in a year, we will no longer be discussing his role, because by then his influence will already be very evident," said Klopp. "The fact is, Mark Kosicki and I have been working together for 20 years. He is the best person I've ever encountered in certain areas."

Klopp further explained: "I am only an expert in certain areas, and in other areas, there are people better than me. Mark is one of them, so he will join our team."
