Benfica officially announced that the club has reached an agreement with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad for the loan of midfielder Richard Rios. The loan will last for one season, until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Richard Rios joined Benfica from Palmeiras in the summer of 2025. The Colombian international began his Benfica career in the 2025-26 season, making 45 appearances for the team across all competitions, contributing 8 goals and 6 assists.

On July 31, 2025, Rios made his official debut for Benfica in the Portuguese Super Cup. He started and played the full 90 minutes, helping Benfica defeat Sporting CP 1-0 to win the championship.

In the 2025-26 Primeira Liga season, Rios made 27 appearances, totaling 2,283 minutes, scoring 5 goals and providing 4 assists. In the Champions League, he played from the qualifying rounds through to the group stage, making 12 appearances, totaling 983 minutes, contributing 1 goal and 1 assist. In other domestic competitions, he made 6 appearances, totaling 372 minutes, including 2 goals in the Portuguese Cup.

Entering the 2026-27 season, Rios has played 6 official matches for Benfica, including 4 in the Europa League qualifiers and 2 in the Primeira Liga.

To date, Rios has made a total of 51 official appearances for Benfica.
