"I don't need to rate the transfer market; the pitch will be the ultimate judge." These were the words of Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani at a press conference held in Formello after the transfer window closed, when Pinamonti, Frattesi, Gudmundsson, and Saúl had all been brought in.

Fabiani: "All the players who joined wanted to come to this club."

Fabiani spoke about the players who joined this summer: "All the players who came to the team wanted to come to this club." The sporting director then reflected on the season: "I am here not for money, but out of passion and dedication. This dedication will end at the end of the year, and then we will settle accounts. Ultimately, it is up to the owner to evaluate, but I believe I have done my best, and the data is there for everyone to see." Speaking about the difficulties in the transfer market in recent years, he added: "Football is sick now; it's been corrupted. There are only two ways to play: with ideas or by throwing money around. I don't think teams that spent twice as much as us last season were more successful than Lazio. Fabiani then spoke about his relationship with Lotito: "He may be liked or disliked, but I have worked for his enterprise for 14 years, and he has never imposed anything on me.
