According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery explained why 19-year-old George Hemmings has consistently started this season, while Garnacho, who joined the team this summer, is waiting for his opportunities. Emery stated that Hemmings' performances prove he is capable of playing in the Premier League, while Garnacho is currently adapting to the team.

So far this season, Hemmings has started all three of Aston Villa's league matches and also appeared in the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain. Since the start of the new season, he has temporarily surpassed Garnacho in the team's pecking order.
In Villa's 0-0 draw away at Hull City, Hemmings earned another starting spot. He delivered a cut-back pass that created an excellent opportunity for Emi Buendia, but the latter shot over the bar. Additionally, Hemmings recorded Aston Villa's first shot on target in the Premier League this season when he attempted to attack the near post in the first half against Hull City goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.
After the match, Emery was asked why he chose Hemmings over Garnacho and what the former Manchester United winger needed to do to earn a starting position.
Emery said: "George trained with us all last year and also got some playing time. His performance now is very good, and he is constantly improving."
"He created an assist opportunity for Buendia. He is able to reach the game intensity and running distance we demand, and he is doing it. I think it is now clear that he is a player of Premier League quality."
Speaking about Garnacho, Emery explained that new signings need time to integrate into the team: "We also have some new players who need to adapt to our requirements through training and matches, and Garnacho is currently in this process."
"We need them to perform, work hard to add more to the team, and contribute in terms of statistics. Garnacho is going through this process. And George's response right now is indeed very good."
