According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City will be without several players due to injury or suspension for their Champions League away match against Porto.

Nico O'Reilly and Doku are still recovering from injuries and will miss Manchester City's Champions League opener. Enzo Maresca did not take either player with him when the team traveled to northern Portugal on Monday.

O'Reilly was pulled out of the warm-up before Manchester City's weekend win over Coventry, while Doku was injured in last month's Community Shield final against Arsenal. Neither player has participated in full training. O'Reilly's injury is not considered serious, and he still has a chance to play in Sunday's Manchester Derby.

Regarding Doku's recovery, Maresca said: "He's back. I don't know if he will be available for the weekend's game against Manchester United, but he is slowly recovering."

Manchester City are among the favorites to win the Champions League this season, with the club spending nearly £430 million this summer, breaking their transfer expenditure record. Maresca said: "I've said many times, as long as you are at Manchester City, the expectations from outside will always be higher."

Maresca added: "I prefer to focus on each day. It's hard to think about where the team will be in February, March, or April next year. For me, the most important thing is to see the team improve from game to game, and then we'll see what happens."

For Porto, head coach Francesco Farioli faces multiple absentees. Bednarek is suspended after being sent off in last season's Europa League match against Nottingham Forest, and Viktor Froholdt, who lost consciousness in Porto's Primeira Liga win over Moreirense on Friday, will also be unavailable.

Other absentees include Samu, Oskar Piechowski, Zaidu, Vasco Sousa, and André Miranda.

Farioli said at a press conference: "We are without Bednarek, Froholdt, and Samu, and Zaidu and Oskar are also unavailable. They are all important players. It's impossible to have everyone available, but this is also an opportunity for the whole team to show what they've been working on and prove that they can respond positively to missing players."

As the reigning Primeira Liga champions, Porto signed six new players this summer, with only 18-year-old Gabriel Meque not included in the team's European squad.

Speaking about Manchester City, Farioli said: "We will face one of the main contenders for the title. We have great respect for the individual quality of Manchester City's players, the team's organization, and the foundation that Guardiola has built."

Farioli added: "Maresca has led Manchester City into a new cycle. We will do our best, because whenever we play at the Estádio do Dragão, something special can happen."
