According to Sport1, Hamburg has been approved to expand Volksparkstadion's capacity to over 60,000 seats.

Hamburger SV announced on Tuesday that the club has "received permission to expand the stadium's capacity to over 60,000 seats." The stadium currently has a capacity of 57,000.

The first phase of renovations will begin as early as October, scheduled during breaks between Bundesliga men's and women's home matches to minimize disruption. Funding for the expansion comes from the Hamburg Supporters' Trust, established this year. The fan cooperative raised funds to purchase new shares in Hamburger SV Fußball AG & Co. KGaA, and the capital raised will be invested in the expansion project.
