According to Bild, Demichelis is "on the brink". The two matches against Hamburg and Leverkusen before the international break could prove decisive for the manager's future at RB Leipzig.

Scrutiny of the former Bayern Munich defender has intensified following RB Leipzig's heavy 1-4 defeat to Como in their opening Champions League match of the season.

RB Leipzig played disorganized football for large stretches, creating little in attack and performing poorly in terms of intensity and defensive commitment. Captain Raum vented his frustration: "It's awful. It's really infuriating now. We took a hard blow today. Our performance was poor, and we must make changes as soon as possible."

However, even during the summer preparation period, the club harbored doubts about whether Demichelis's approach suited RB Leipzig's playing style. Some within the club believed the 45-year-old lacked sufficient ideas for ball-oriented attacking football based on his coaching career to date.

Demichelis took over the club last summer, replacing the sacked Ole Werner. Before joining RB Leipzig, the former Bayern defender managed relegated Mallorca in Spain.

RB Leipzig activated a release clause to bring the Argentine to the club. His contract with RB Leipzig runs until 2028.
